The Classics Spin

As I have so far only read one of the books on my list, I have taken the first twenty books minus the one I have read for the spin challenge. These include some of the lengthier and more challenging titles on my list, but I need to tackle one of the big ones soon before I lose my nerve so we will see what happens!

  1. Othello, William Shakespeare
  2. The Tempest, William Shakespeare
  3. War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy
  4. One Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez
  5. Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy
  6. A Suitable Boy, Vikram Seth
  7. Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoyevsky
  8. Ulysses, James Joyce
  9. Dubliners, James Joyce
  10. The Magus, John Fowles
  11. Gormenghast, Mervyn Peake
  12. The Golden Notebook, Doris Lessing
  13. Midnight’s Children, Salman Rushdie
  14. Rabbit Redux, John Updike
  15. Portnoy’s Complaint, Philip Roth
  16. Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf
  17. To The Lighthouse, Virginia Woolf
  18. Women in Love, D.H.Lawrence
  19. Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
  20. Vanity Fair, William Thackeray

An update on what I have been reading over the summer is to follow soon…

  1. Some real doorstoppers on your list! I’ve read the Shakespeare, the Tolstoy and Virginia Woolf. I think I liked Othello best of all of them. I’m also intrigued by Women in Love because I really enjoyed Sons & Lovers. Good luck with your spin pick!

    1. Thanks, I think their size is the reason I haven’t read some of them (apart from Viginia Woolf whose novels I have started several times but never managed to finish). It’s quite nice to know that the choice about what to read next is out of my hands!

  2. I read War and Peace last year and loved it, so much so, that I’m thinking of reading it again soon! So nice to see Gormenghast …… I’ve been toying with reading it for years and I don’t know anyone who has. It would be nice to get some feedback about it. In any case, have a great spin!
